DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Manager, Life Cycle Management (LCM), the Senior Inspector, LCM administers the asset inspection program for real property assets of all portfolios within the National Capital Commission (NCC). The individual prepares and assembles technical field inspection reports on major buildings and structures to determine their condition and assess repair costs. The Senior inspector, LCM reviews and coordinates Asset Condition Reports (ACR) prepared by external consultants.
EDUCATION: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience related to these fields.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years experience in each of the following criteria:
â€¢ Performing field inspections of buildings and structures;
â€¢ Formulating scopes of work and estimates;
â€¢ Preparing Asset Condition Reports (ACR);
â€¢ Reviewing ACR's prepared by consultants.
â€¢ Of the National Building Code and regional standards;
â€¢ Of identifying deviations from applicable codes, fire hazards and health and safety;
â€¢ Of regulations on universal accessibility, heritage and environmental issues;
â€¢ Of construction methods and techniques.
â€¢ To work independently;
â€¢ To communicate effectively orally and in writing;
â€¢ To manage and prioritize various tasks;
â€¢ To collaborate in a work environment characterized by fluidity and overlap of roles.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
â€¢ Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance;
â€¢ Linguistic profile: Bilingual BBB
â€¢ Possess a valid driver's licence and provide a clean driver's abstract;
â€¢ Position is in the National Capital Region. The candidate must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace (40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario).
â€¢ Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or working towards one of these designations;
â€¢ Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) certification;
â€¢ Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification;
â€¢ International Facility Management Association (IFMA) certification;
â€¢ Other professional designations and/or Project Management memberships.
