Job Summary

The successful candidate would be responsible for performing highly diversified duties, including supplying technical analyses, system analyses, economic studies and equipment and processes selection scenarios. The individual will be responsible for the execution of diverse projects by supplying project management, project supervision assistance, technical conception and fittings' design. They will be responsible for verification that all engineering requirements adheres to all applicable H.S.E. regulations, laws, and standards (e.g., OHSA, Building Codes, CSA, BSI, ANSI, MOE, MOL, etc.). The Plant Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the plant and various projects including equipment installation, design, costing, are completed and accurate in order to meet timelines and stay within budget. The successful incumbent drives continuous improvement by working independently or in conjunction with engineering, production, maintenance, and/or vendors to analyze and develop solutions to improve processing, products and solve issues. This includes design, development or modifications of new and existing processes, equipment, tooling, materials, cost, or quality improvement projects.

Principal Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of plant engineering projects such as: communicating with contractors, reviewing current status against timelines and cost summaries, in order to provide management with up to date status reports and time of completion. Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget

Generate R.F.Q.s, analyze job costing and material reports and review financial records to ensure project activities are in line with the budget
Follow up on delivery of materials and equipment through maintaining communications with suppliers and contractors Oversee CAPEX projects and generate AFEs
Monitor and analyze production and process results. Evaluates product scrap defects, downtime, and production information and recommend plans for improvement and report monthly savings
Source all supplies, new process equipment and materials, research benchmarking of new processes for continuous improvement to meet changing needs
Continually audit existing equipment and processes and recommends improvements. Prepares economic analysis and comparisons to provide management with information to use in decision-making processes
Coordinate with maintenance manager and production manager, for optimum usage of internal resources during the completion of various engineering projects
Work in conjunction with plant personnel on machinery/equipment/tooling improvements, which would enhance Quality, Safety and Productivity
Oversee product & equipment problem resolution projects as they arise
Responsible for new product development at the plant, submitting trial reports and tracking and reporting S.R.E.D.
MES lead (production software ) at the plant by overseeing system use, ensuring accuracy, making recommendations and implementing new modules
Undertakes assistance with regard to Environmental and Waste Management aspects of the Health, Safety and Environmental Plan
Heavily involved in the HSE program including the guarding survey and ensuring all equipment's is up to correct standards

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Engineering or related degree or 6 years equivalent experience

A basic working knowledge of plastics manufacturing environment/processes is preferred
Excellent knowledge of computers, MS Office, CAD systems, 3-D perception, machining, and welding.
Strong analytical and economic analyses skills.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Excellent leadership/management, written & verbal communication, interpersonal and project management skills.
Background in Health, Safety and Environment issues related to plant activities
