Responsibilities Lead or support materials development and manufacturing process improvement related to elastomer and other polymer materials, as well as metal-elastomer bonding systems for oil field products. Provide manufacturing and technical support associated with these products. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Provide primarily engineering support to stator manufacturing plants (progressing cavity pump and positive displacement motor products), as well as global material support to other product lines. Lead or support sustaining and R&D activities and projects associated with the elastomer/plastic materials in downhole and surface applications. Develops an in-depth knowledge of elastomer and elastomer-metal bond technology and associated manufacturing process Lead or support continuous improvement or value engineering projects for processes related to elastomer and bond Represent Engineering to provide NCR dispositions. Work with Manufacturing and Quality departments in reviewing the NCRs and provide troubleshooting recommendations C onduct root cause analysis for critical NCRs. Assist the plant in implementing preventative/corrective actions Lead or support product inspections and failure analysis for field failures. Support both the metallic and non-metallic material Labs in chemistry/material related laboratory analysis. Other duties as required Qualifications Qualifications: Education: B.Eng or B.Sc in Polymer Materials/Science/Engineering, or a relevant degree with solid work experience in polymer/elastomer materials. Masters Degree with specialization in polymers would be an asset. Knowledge/Experience: Knowledge and experience in polymer science/engineering and elastomer testing/evaluation methods required. Knowledge of lab equipment and troubleshooting skills highly desired Familiarity with elastomer/bond coating manufacturing processes and products preferred. Elastomer compounding and mixing experience preferred. Oil industry experience would be an asset. Familiarity with failure analysis of elastomer and metal products would be an asset Knowledge in advanced analytical methods such as FTIR, SEM, DSC, TGA, DMTA, etc. would be an asset. MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) expertise and experience required. Skills: Strong technical reporting/writing skillsGood organizational and communication skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Project management experience and skills would be an asset. Reliable and highly motivated. Self-starter and multi-tasking Detail oriented and well organized. Team player.
